For 's prompt: “Jack finds notes in the office. Love notes. To and from who, he has no idea. But they pop up everywhere.”
Word Count: 130
July, 1914
My Love.
I miss you more with every passing moment. Although I am proud of what you do for the country and the rest of the world, it pains me to think that nobody knows that you are risking your life for them every day. Rumours are rife that a war is stirring. But people are naive to the real danger. They have not seen the signs of other worldly creatures. They do not understand the true extent of the danger the world is in. But I feel safe in the knowledge that you, my love, are defending us all.
Be safe.
Jack hoped that whoever all these letters were for, returned to see their love again. He had seen how Torchwood could tear apart lovers, families and friends.
For 's prompt: "It was all just a bad dream"
Word Count: 158
Set during the 1st series
Gwen woke with a start.
She looked around, getting her bearings. A second ago she was chasing a Weevil down Queen Street, and now she was back in her room with a snoring Rhys next to her.
How could that have happened? She didn’t fall. She couldn’t remember drinking anything so it can’t have been poison.
She picked up her mobile to call Jack. But his number wasn’t in her phone. Neither was Owen’s. Nor Tosh’s or Ianto’s.
Gwen jumped out of bed and opened her wardrobe, ready to go down the bay to find out what was happening to her. And there it was. Hanging there just as it used to. Her police uniform.
Her phone rang. It was Andy asking if she could cover him today as he was ill. That’s when she realised. There was no Torchwood. Gwen laughed to herself. Chasing aliens around Cardiff? Clearly, it must have been a bad dream. Mustn’t it?
